[July 16, 2025] Daystar University signed a memorandum of understanding with Madras Christian College, India.

The virtual MoU signing ceremony was attended by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro, the Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor-ARSA Prof. Samuel Muriithi, the Director of Academic Affairs, Dr. Dinah Keino,  the Director, Daystar Research, Innovation, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship (DRICE) Dr. Caroline Ayuya Muaka, the Ag. Director DRICE and Dean, School of Applied Human Sciences, Dr. Kennedy Ongaro, Rev. Dr. Peter Maurice from the Office of Academic Affairs, Legal Officer Mr. Telvin Ambani, the Corporate Affairs Manager, Mrs. Damaris Kimilu, the Principal Madras Christian College (MCC), Prof. Samuel Rufus, and the Director of International Relations, Prof. Emil Chandran. 

The scope of the MOU includes:

  • Academic exchange programmes
  • Capacity Building and Faculty development
  • Research Collaborations
  • Joint Programs
  • Student Exchange Programs

“I hope that this MoU signing between Daystar University and Madras Christian College will reinforce a commitment to integrating Christian values to higher education and equipping students to be ethical leaders in their contexts,” remarked Prof. Ayiro.

Prof. Ayiro further highlighted that the MOU signing between Daystar University and Madras Christian College will strengthen collaboration in research projects in such areas as Theology, Social Sciences, Environmental Studies and technical subjects.

The Vice Chancellor observed that the MOU signing was a symbolic bridge between two continents united by shared Christian values, a commitment to service, and a pursuit of truth and wisdom. He mentioned that co-hosting conferences and workshops will be of great significance.

The Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of capacity building and faculty development, expressing a strong desire to foster online teaching collaborations. He highlighted the potential of hybrid learning models, especially in disciplines such as media studies, communication, technical fields, and theology.

The VC revealed that Madras Christian College will be visiting Daystar University in October as part of the exchange programme, as Daystar University considers taking a team to Madras Christian College later.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic, Research and Student Affairs (ARSA), Prof. Samuel Muriithi welcomed attendees to the MoU signing ceremony and expressed Daystar University's anticipation of a rewarding partnership with Madras Christian College, focusing on education and various exchange programs.

“We will work together to ensure that this MoU is actualized,” remarked Dr. Dinah Keino, the Director Academic Affairs.

The Principal of Madras Christian College Prof. Samuel Rufuls, said signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with Daystar University marks their first such partnership in Kenya. He conveyed strong optimism about its success and long-term impact.

The meeting concluded with signing the MOU by the two institutions. The signed documents will be exchanged between the two institutions, Daystar University and MCC.
