First Vice-chancellor of Daystar University, late Prof. Stephen Talitwala

[Athi River, Tue March 4, 2025] Former Chairman of the University Council, Prof. Henry Thairu made history by becoming the first Daystar University leader to receive The Eng. Prof. Stephen E.J. Talitwala Leadership Award. The award was presented to Prof. Thairu during the Tuesday Chapel service at Main Campus Athi River.

Prof. Thairu was awarded in recognition of his exemplary leadership, unwavering dedication and transformative impact to Daystar University and the society. During his tenure as Chairman of the University Council from 2018-2022, Prof. Thairu demonstrated extra ordinary ability to inspire, innovate and elevate those around him. 

The award read in part…. “His leadership embodies the highest ideals of scholarship, service and ethical responsibility, making a profound and lasting contribution to the New Dawn Era in Daystar University.”

Present to present to Award was the Company Board Chairman Rev. Dr. Matthews Mwalw’a, accompanied by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Laban P. Ayiro - initiator of The Eng. Prof. Stephen E.J. Talitwala Leadership Award.

Speaking during the award ceremony, the Vice Chancellor said that when Daystar establishes a Roll of Honor, it shall put up various categories of awards.

The VC posthumously recognized the First Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Talitwala, for his sacrificial service to Daystar University. He called on the Daystar Company Board of Trustees to consider appreciating the Talitwala family, who worked as unsalaried missionaries and sacrificed a lot as they laid out the foundation for Daystar University.
